DESCRIPTION: Atkins Clock Co., Bristol, Conn., "Octagon Drop XX", 30 day, time only, spring driven Type III movement with tin and spoked brass wheels in a rosewood veneer and ripple molded case with painted metal dial, c1859
CONDITION: the case retains a very old finish with a veneer crack and repair on the lower right base. There is a very old dent in the top of the case near hanger. The perimeter of the dial outside the chapter ring has been repainted. The original ivory knob is present. This is an excellent example of the type of clock illustrated on page 66 in Phillip Gregory's and Robert King's "The Clocks of Iraneus Atkins." Ht 25"
